July 10, 2009

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (July 10, 2009) - Fellers Snider Law Firm’s Director of Administration, Susan French Koran, has been named the  2009-2010 President of the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA), an international organization.  Koran is the first person in the state of Oklahoma to hold this title.

ALA is the largest international association providing support, high-quality education and services to professionals involved in the management of law firms, corporate legal departments and government legal agencies. With more than 10,000 members in 30 countries, ALA represents legal administrators who are leaders and industry experts on legal management issues such as finance, marketing, human resources, systems and technology, facilities and practice management.

Following in the footsteps of the firm's founder, James D. Fellers, the first Oklahoman to serve as President of the American Bar Association, Koran says, “I am very proud to carry on my firm’s tradition of leading a legal organization at the top level by serving as 2009-2010 President of ALA.”

Serving as the public spokesperson for the Association, Koran’s responsibilities for the next year will include representing ALA at its Annual Conference and many regional and specialty conferences.  She will also make presentations to local chapters around the globe.  Koran will represent the legal management profession and managers to the legal community at the Managing Partners' Forum Annual European Practice Management Awards ceremony in London, England, on October 21, 2009.

As ALA President, Koran represented the Association at The Burton Awards for Legal Achievement, a program established a decade ago to celebrate the major accomplishments in law. The awards program, held in June of this year in the Library of Congress, is designed to reward major achievements in the law ranging from literary awards to the greatest reform in law.  The event was attended by government officials, dignitaries, and VIPs, including many of America's finest judges, managing partners and partners of the largest law firms in America and law school deans from across the nation.

Notable 2009 award recipients were Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia; author Bryan Garner; New York State Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye (retired), Chairman Sheila C. Bair, FDIC; and renowned television screenwriter David E. Kelley.

Fellers Snider Law Firm was founded in Oklahoma City in 1963.  The firm has offices in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.  In four decades, it has become one of the major Oklahoma law firms offering broad and diverse legal services of local and national scope.
